Bernd Zimmermann Career Timeline

1965 Bernd started his Fitness career as a Karate instructor in Munich, Germany. In the following years he was involved in Martial Arts and also Body Building in Europe and the US.

1967 Opened his first Fitness Club "Europ-Sport-Center" in Vienna, Austria being one of the fitness pioneers in Europe.

1969 Opened his first Women only Studio 'Lady Style" in Vienna. In the following 15 years,he opened an additional 10 Health/Fitness Clubs and Women only Studios across Austria and Germany. During this time he was travelling between Europe and US studying and exchanging the newest trends in Health and Fitness.

1984 He moved to California, became a U.S. citizen and founded Interfit Corporation Los Angeles serving as a fitness link between Europe and the US.

1993 Founder of Zimmermann Medical Fitness in Vienna, a medical/fitness group for prevention,rehabilitation and sport-therapy. In cooperation of a high qualified team of specialized doctors, physical therapists, masseurs and fitness experts.

1994 Bernd Zimmermann received the Austrian Government’s Award of Honor in Recognition of his outstanding and devoted efforts in the Promotion of Health and Fitness.

1997 Franchise partner with Futureshape in London and Joligne from Switzerland in Cooperation with Zimmermann Fitness, featuring a unique weight loss and cellulite system for american and european women only studios.

1998 While in Europe, Bernd discovered Nordic Walking and immediately recognized the potential health benefits. He began training with Austrian and German Nordic Walking Specialists and studied this extraordinary Fitness concept.

2001 Bernd includes Nordic Walking in the full line of the Zimmermann Fitness solutions, also offering Nordic Walking in the USA

2002 Bernd and his wife Marianna, a fitness expert herself, expanding Zimmermann Fitness for Women in the US, offering professional and personal services with more than 30 years of combined experience in Weight-Loss, Body-Shaping and Cellulite Treatments.

2003 Bernd became President for the USA for the international Strenflex Sport Organisation (www.strenflex.org) , which is a new Fitness Decathlon Sport, based on the 3 pilars of the fitness concept - strength, endurance and flexibility.

2004 Bernd is Founder and Master Coach of the American Nordic Walking Association "ANWA" to promote Nordic Walking in the US, because it offers so many Health benefits. With his expertise and unique qualification Bernd presents the first Nordic Walking Instructional DVD/Video and e-book in the US. (www.anwa.us)

2005 Bernd, as Master Coach for the American Nordic Walking Association, instructs at numerous training and certification seminars. Bernd's highly acclaimed Nordic Walking Instructional DVD is featured on ABC Eyewitness News, in Los Angeles. Bernd is primary consultant and major partner for the new ZFit Fitness & Wellness Center in Las Vegas, Nevada - currently under construction, opening 2007.

2006 Fitness Tribune Magazine, the No. 1 German language fitness and wellness publication in the world - recognizes Bernd Zimmermann with a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding service to the development of and the philosophy behind the global Fitness Industry.
